About me
Like most editorial pros, I love to read and write—but what really makes me tick? It’s the craft of a clear and meaningful message: the email that informs without talking down, the product description that tells a vivid story, and the “About” page that’s actually enjoyable to read. Good writing is a service to everyone.
That’s my approach to editorial work, and this is how I got here:
Two bachelor’s degrees (magna cum laude): philosophy and English literature
A master’s degree (magna cum laude) in English literature from Harvard University
Freelance copyediting experience for magazines, websites, doctoral students, and book authors
10+ years in book publishing at firms small and large
A personal writing practice, plus a few rounds of The Artist’s Way
Course completion with the Editorial Freelancer’s Association and the Comprehensive Copywriting Academy
Reading, reading, and more reading!
When I’m not writing copy or editing it, I’m hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, gardening, reading fiction (especially Irish novels and short stories), devouring newsletters, building my meditation practice, making art, and watching great films and television.
